5 Things I Love for Friday #133

  1. Ben Fold’s Five reunion show – The band got back together to play their last album from front to back. Myspace has the full concert with video interviews. I’m looking forward to see what other artists they introduce in this series. And man I miss them as a group…
  2. Alpha Coffee Table – Damn you, Crate & Barrel for making this $900. But the printmaker in me is totally woozy over the design.
  3. Manu Delago and his hand drums – Not quite steel drums, not quite anything I’ve ever seen. The hang drum as played by Manu Delago produces a hauntingly beautiful sound. There’s a bunch of videos on YouTube from other hang artists worth checking out, too.
  4. Fresh apple cider – We picked some up at the local farm/pumpkin patch when we went with Liam a few weekends back. Instant autumn in a glass. A great way to welcome the cool, crisp weather. (That and a pumpkin pie blizzard from Dairy Queen)
  5. Jim Henson’s funeral – Earlier in the week Boing Boing linked to a video of Big Bird singing at the dear, late Jim Henson’s funeral. As if that video wasn’t sad enough, watching his friends and fellow puppeteers perform a medley of his favorite Muppet songs is so touching it made me misty. I hope someone breaks out singing puppets at my funeral. Also: Frank Oz is my hero.
